Shenzhen Nanshan Takes Flight with “Air Taxis”

Soaring above traffic congestion becomes a reality as Shenzhen’s Nanshan district introduces a novel commuting option: “air taxis.” The Lenovo Houhai Center Heliport and Urban Terminal recently opened its doors, marking the launch of Nanshan’s first Class A elevated heliport and urban terminal.

Nanshan’s vibrant business and technology hub, home to many leading companies, faces significant commuting challenges. To address this issue, Dongbu Aviation and Lenovo Hohai Center joined forces to explore new low-altitude transportation solutions. Their collaboration resulted in the creation of this state-of-the-art facility, the first of its kind in Nanshan.

The Lenovo Hohai Center Heliport, strategically located within the Hohai Headquarters Base, will operate a 7-minute “air corridor” connecting Shenzhen Bay to Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport. This service will revolutionize intercity travel, offering flights to Guangzhou within 25 minutes and Zhuhai within 10 minutes.

Furthermore, the heliport envisions a future where various transportation hubs, city centers, key businesses, and even leisure destinations within the Shenzhen Bay and Greater Bay Area are seamlessly interconnected through air travel. Regular sightseeing flights will offer visitors a unique perspective of Shenzhen’s cityscape, showcasing its beauty from a new vantage point.

The luxurious waiting hall, designed specifically for business travelers, caters to their every need. From concierge services and security checks to relaxation areas and tea breaks, it provides a comfortable and convenient environment. The breathtaking 42nd floor of the building offers panoramic views of Shenzhen Bay, further enhancing the passenger experience.

The launch of “air taxis” represents a significant advancement in urban mobility and paves the way for a more efficient and sustainable future. This innovative solution not only alleviates traffic congestion but also opens up new possibilities for tourism and economic development. As the “air taxi” network expands, it has the potential to revolutionize the way people travel within the Greater Bay Area and beyond.
