Shenzhen to Add Nearly 16,000 New Roadside Parking Spots in 2024

The Shenzhen Municipal Transport Bureau recently unveiled a plan to introduce nearly 16,000 new roadside parking spots across the city in 2024. This proposal, currently in its preliminary stages, aims to address parking concerns and improve accessibility in various areas.

The plan outlines a strategic allocation of the new parking spaces, with 84% slated for Dapeng New Area and specific districts: Bao’an, Longgang, Longhua, Guangming, and Pingshan. Bao’an District is expected to benefit the most, receiving a total of 4,353 new parking spots across 56 road sections in seven subdistricts. Notably, Shajing Subdistrict within Bao’an will see a significant addition of 1,485 parking spaces spread across 18 road sections. Longgang District will also see a substantial increase with 3,083 new parking spots planned across 44 road sections in nine subdistricts.

According to bureau officials, the new parking facilities will be strategically located near residential areas, commercial zones, and industrial areas. Additionally, they will be positioned near public areas like schools and parks, aiming to enhance convenience and accessibility for residents and visitors.

This initiative comes in response to the growing demand for parking within the city. As of now, Shenzhen boasts around 28,000 roadside parking spaces, with the highest concentrations found in Futian, Bao’an, and Nanshan districts. The proposed expansion aims to alleviate parking congestion and improve the overall experience for residents and businesses throughout the city.

The Shenzhen Municipal Transport Bureau is currently inviting public feedback and suggestions on the proposal, ensuring community involvement in shaping the final plan.
