China has seen a notable increase in foreign tourism, as highlighted by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian at a recent press conference. Lin expressed the country’s enthusiasm for welcoming international visitors, emphasizing the unique and diverse experiences available throughout China.

Recent trends indicate a growing interest in China among international tourists, with a significant rise in flight bookings and hotel reservations compared to the previous year. This surge reflects a broader global curiosity about exploring China’s rich culture, history, and modern attractions.

Lin noted that foreign tourists are engaging in a variety of activities during their visits. Popular experiences include strolling through cities and towns, enjoying local parks, tasting regional delicacies, taking boat tours, and attending folk performances. These activities have become particularly popular, with many tourists sharing their adventures online. Videos featuring tourists learning square dancing, exploring night markets, taking selfies with giant pandas, and riding in driverless taxis have garnered millions of likes from viewers worldwide.

To facilitate these visits, China has introduced several travel-friendly policies. A 15-day visa-free entry policy for citizens of 15 countries, including France, is currently being trialed. Additionally, the country has expanded its 144-hour visa-free transit policy to 37 ports of entry, and now allows visa-free entry for all foreign tourist groups traveling by cruise ship. These measures, along with improvements in mobile payment systems and ticket purchasing at scenic spots, aim to enhance the ease and enjoyment of travel in China.

Lin encouraged more foreign tourists to visit various Chinese cities and scenic spots, experiencing the country’s culture and beauty firsthand. He urged them to share their experiences with the world, helping to showcase a more open and inviting China.
