Bicycles crafted by Guangming-based Xidesheng (XDS) Carbon-Tech are set to make their highly-anticipated second appearance at the Olympic Games as the Paris Olympics prepare to kick off on July 26.
As a longstanding partner of the Chinese Cycling Association and the official collaborator of the Chinese National Mountain Bike Team, XDS has played a crucial role in driving the growth of cycling sports in China. The national team has clinched two Asian Championship titles and one Asian Games championship while riding Xidesheng bicycles, according to a news release from Guangming’s district government.

With an annual production capacity of more than five million units, XDS is recognized as the world’s largest carbon fiber bicycle manufacturer.
Compared with its debut at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago, this upcoming appearance promises a slew of new enhancements. Distinguished as the lightest among its global competitors, the bicycles represent a cutting-edge fusion of advanced technology and innovative design.

Crafted from T1100 carbon fiber, these XDS bicycles feature a frame that weighs a mere 1,150 grams, with a total weight of just 9.6 kilograms. After four years of rigorous development, the latest version of XDS’ Olympic bicycles is an even lighter, sturdier, and more finely-tuned masterpiece. Adorned with dragon-themed coatings featuring Chinese red hues and dragon motifs, these bicycles embody a distinctive Chinese character.
Known for its abundant natural resources, including mountains, forests, and lakes, Guangming is emerging as a hub for cycling enthusiasts. With a focus on complete industrial chain development, Guangming’s potential for cycling has been growing.
As urban cycling has become an increasingly fashionable lifestyle choice for city dwellers in China, the number of bikes has soared in the country in recent years. According to the China Bicycle Association, China now has more than 200 million bike owners, with Shenzhen ranking fourth nationwide in carbon reduction through cycling.
A local resident surnamed Yang said that he finds the allure of cycling in Guangming irresistible, thanks to its stunning landscapes and well-developed cycling infrastructure. Yang’s favorite cycling facilities include the Hongqiao Park Mountain Bike Trail, Guangming Fun Farm, and the Maozhou River Cycling Lane.
Capitalizing on its natural advantages, Guangming has strategically promoted cycling as one of its key outdoor sports, along with rowing and equestrian activities. The district’s ambitious development plans also include the establishment of XDS International Cycling Training Base, which will be capable of hosting major international events.
To cater to the diverse needs of its residents, Guangming is expanding its cycling infrastructure, planning interconnected trail zones that link water resources and parks. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive network of cycling paths totaling over 200 kilometers, offering a comprehensive cycling experience that blends nature with urban exploration.
The district has shown its commitment to nurturing talent and promoting cycling sports by supporting the XDS China Cycling Team. The team, which includes elite cyclists from China, Iran, Kazakhstan, and other countries, has excelled in international competitions such as the Tour of Qinghai Lake and the Tour of China.
Meanwhile, Guangming has successfully organized high-profile cycling events like the China Mountain Bike League and the Guangming International Road Cycling Race, which was recognized as one of Shenzhen’s top 10 high-level sports events last year.
