Shenzhen’s skyline will soon be illuminated by a breathtaking display of drone light shows, as over 10,000 drones take flight every night from October 1 to 7. The shows will be staged across five key locations in the city, promising to captivate both residents and visitors alike.

In a move to add an international flair, Shenzhen is inviting creators from around the world to contribute their ideas to the spectacle. This global collaboration underscores the city’s commitment to cultural exchange and innovation.

These drone performances are part of a broader lineup of more than 300 cultural and tourism events planned for the autumn season. Liu Lei, head of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports, emphasized that the aim of these activities is to draw global visitors, further solidifying Shenzhen’s position as a top tourist destination.

To make the festivities even more accessible, the city has announced the release of 10,000 discounted tickets to major attractions, alongside 10,000 vouchers for low-altitude flights. These offers will allow tourists to explore the city from unique perspectives, both from the ground and the sky.

Shenzhen’s tourism sector has been booming this year. In the first half of 2024, the city welcomed 80.94 million visitors, marking a 16.09% increase from the previous year. Tourism revenue reached a staggering 121.53 billion yuan (US$17.14 billion), while international tourists made over 3 million trips through Shenzhen’s checkpoints as of mid-August, a year-on-year increase of 122.7%.

With an exciting mix of culture, innovation, and tourism, Shenzhen’s National Day celebrations are set to leave a lasting impression on all who witness them.
