Moscow-based EuroTrans, a major Russian petrol station operator, is planning to install EV charging stations along an expressway linking Russia and China. This initiative aims to support electric vehicle (EV) drivers by enabling them to travel long distances across Russia and into China without running out of power.
The charging stations would be built along the Moscow-Kazan expressway, which is set to extend eastward to Vladivostok with a branch to China. With plans to reduce charging times to just 10 minutes, these stations will allow EVs to travel 400-600 km before needing to recharge. This project aligns with Russia’s goal to enhance economic cooperation with China and promote the adoption of Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) in the country.
EuroTrans hopes to test the feasibility of cross-border EV travel from Moscow to Beijing, a move that could boost Chinese EV imports to Russia and encourage the growth of sustainable transport in the region.
