Typhoon Bebinca, Strongest in 70 Years, Makes Landfall in Shanghai

Typhoon Bebinca, the 13th typhoon of the year, made landfall in Shanghai at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Monday, according to the Shanghai meteorological observatory. The typhoon struck the Lingang area of Pudong District, bringing maximum wind speeds near its center of 42 meters per second.

Bebinca is believed to be the strongest typhoon to hit Shanghai in over 70 years, causing significant concern across the region.

In response to the typhoon, the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters activated a Level IV emergency response for Anhui Province on Sunday, while raising the emergency response in Shanghai and Zhejiang to Level III, indicating heightened precautions.
