Shenzhen Metro Adjusts Schedule for 2024 Nanshan Half Marathon; Event Reaches Milestone Anniversary”

Shenzhen Metro Adjusts Schedule for 2024 Nanshan Half Marathon; Event Reaches Milestone Anniversary”

Shenzhen Metro will launch its first train services one hour earlier at 5:30 a.m. this Sunday to accommodate participants in the 2024 Shenzhen Nanshan Half Marathon, Shenzhen Metro Group announced.

This special adjustment to the metro schedule applies to lines 2, 3, 8, and 11 and aims to support the expected 20,000 runners as they head to the race. Organizers recommend that runners check for updates on Metro’s WeChat and microblog accounts or call the customer service hotline at 755-88960600 for any assistance.

In addition to the early metro service, police will implement traffic control measures along the marathon route from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to ensure the smooth operation of the event. The marathon will start at Shenzhen Talent Park, with runners passing iconic landmarks in Nanshan District, including the Dasha River Ecological Corridor, Shenzhen MixC World, Shenzhen University, Nantou Ancient Town, and the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center.

The event’s 10th anniversary this year marks a major milestone for the Shenzhen Nanshan Half Marathon, which began in 2015 as the city’s first marathon organized by a district government and certified by the Chinese Athletics Association. Since then, it has grown to become one of Shenzhen’s most important sports events. In 2017, the marathon was included in Shenzhen’s Top 10 Local Sports Events, and by 2019, it earned the prestigious Gold Label certification from the Chinese Athletics Association.

Internationally recognized, the event was awarded the World Athletics Road Race Label earlier this year, further solidifying its status as a world-class race. The Road Race Label grading system includes four tiers, with the Nanshan Half Marathon receiving an Elite Label for its professionalism and quality.

This year’s marathon is expected to showcase both local and international talent, highlighting Shenzhen’s dedication to sports and wellness. Volunteers are already on the ground, preparing to distribute race kits to the participants, as they gear up for what promises to be another memorable race.
