Paris, June 25, 2024 – Beloved Chinese characters like Fan Xian from Joy of Life, Ye Xiu from The King’s Avatar, and Klein Moretti from Lord of Mysteries are set to undergo a stunning transformation and become part of a range of derivative products, including trading cards, under the new Yuewen IP in Paris Initiative.
Launched at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the initiative sees Chinese cultural giant Yuewen collaborating with renowned French illustrator Antoine Corbineau to reimagine these characters. The fresh visuals will integrate these iconic figures with famous French landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and the Louvre.
The inaugural collection of these derivative products will be showcased at the Bonjour Brand Cooperation Achievements Exhibition, which will be held at the Eiffel Tower on Monday.
The initiative’s focus on these three major IPs underscores Yuewen’s global development strategy. Joy of Life has seen its first season broadcast in 27 countries and regions across five continents. Its second season has become the most-watched Chinese mainland TV series on Disney+’s streaming platform and is being translated into 12 languages to extend its global reach.
The King’s Avatar novel is available in 13 languages, with the English edition garnering over 130 million digital reads. It has also been adapted into audiobooks, comics, and animated works designed for international audiences. Lord of Mysteries, known for blending Eastern culture with global elements, was the most widely read Chinese online literature work abroad in 2023 and has been praised by global media as “a work embraced by all cultures.”
Antoine Corbineau, who has previously collaborated with prestigious brands like Apple and Google, aims to highlight the captivating fusion of Eastern and Western cultures through his designs. This initiative will illuminate the rich cultural legacies of China and France on the global stage, showcasing the potential of cultural collaboration.
