The opening of the new youth soccer training base in Kashgar, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, marks a significant development in the region’s sports infrastructure. Supported by Shenzhen, the base has received an investment of 100 million yuan (approximately US$13.76 million) and boasts 14 sports fields, including three FIFA Quality Pro certified 11-a-side pitches.
Currently, the base hosts a summer camp with over 400 players aged 8 to 15 from 22 local schools. The children receive free training, accommodation, and meals. This initiative is part of a broader effort to develop youth soccer in the region, with Kashgar being a key city in China’s youth soccer development plan. Over 100 players from Kashgar have joined various professional clubs, highlighting the potential impact of this new facility on nurturing young talent in the area.
