Shenzhen MSU-BIT University Welcomes New Students and Launches Science Culture Festival

Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (SMBU) welcomed new students from around the world with an official ceremony on its Longgang District campus, marking the beginning of the new semester. The event, held both on-site and online, attracted nearly 150,000 virtual attendees.

Stepan Kalmykov, chairman of SMBU’s Board of Directors, congratulated students in a video address, highlighting Moscow State University’s (MSU) upcoming 270th anniversary. Kalmykov assured students that MSU’s distinguished faculty would provide strong academic support to develop them into top professionals. He also emphasized SMBU’s rapid growth, mentioning new majors, innovation labs, and partnerships with top research centers and enterprises offering students valuable opportunities.

Li Hezhang, rector of SMBU, encouraged students to contribute to building a global community with a shared future for humanity. During the ceremony, faculty members distributed student IDs to the representatives of the 2024 freshmen class, followed by the official launch of the 3rd Knowledge Science Culture Festival.

The festival, themed “Science Around Us,” will include over 110 events such as academic presentations, exhibitions, competitions, and arts performances.
